A few more photos of the nashmoto Racer
The SoCal Motor Bicycle races at Grange Motor Circuit April 7, 2012 were a lot of fun. Both nashmoto bikes made it to the track, but the new 196cc Racer had a few issues. Not surprising considering the bike was “finished” the day before heading to the track. The NuVinci hub couldn’t handle the 8hp engine and failed almost completely in the final. A new single speed wheel build is happing over the weekend and hopefully all will be ready in time for June 2nd, 2012 races at Grange again. See you at the track!
More Progress on the nashmoto Racer
Time is running out having this bike ready for the April 7 races at Grange Motor Circuit. Clutch and drive parts should arrive Wednesday and secondary drive sprockets on Thursday or Friday. A final headstay mount is on it’s way too. Many of the fabricated parts are being produced by other Nash family members - thanks to my brothers! And thanks to Brett for doing so much of the welding, five hours worth of a misbehaving TIG welder.
Modified AGK manifold
Progress is happening on the new nashmoto racer. Clutch, belts and drive parts have been ordered finally, plasma cut gussets to reinforce the frame arrived yesterday and welding is scheduled for all weekend. It might come together yet! Couldn’t have done it without parts from AGK Affordable Go Karts.
Sneak Peak of the new nashmoto racer
The nashmoto nr is a race-only design currently in development. The 196cc engine and top speed of over 50 mph won’t be street legal and not particularly safe either. Should be ready for the April 7 races at Grange Motor Circuit.
VIDEO: Grange Motor Circuit | 10.22.11
Finally edited race day footage; it’s very nashmoto specific, but you get an idea of what it’s like to race the Grange track. Twenty-two riders in the mixed class motos added to the fun. Thanks to Neil of SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing for putting the races together and doing a great job.
Special thanks to Ken for unexpected video coverage and Ann for great photos she shot throughout the day. See you at the next race April 7, 2012.

Cruise Mode
I came across a couple photos that weren’t posted anywhere else. They capture the simple version of this bike that I like best. No fairings, race numbers, much quieter and frankly, better looking exhaust pipe rounding out the design.
Custom manifold mates new 26mm Mikuni performance carburetor
Removed the performance carb AGK sent me so I can try out a Mikuni pit bike carb. Amazingly the engine ran first try, but only with the choke on. Some serious jetting work to do. After more adjustments, this thing screems, but sputters at full throttle. Will also be changing the air filter to something more substantial. Getting closer …
Engine Modifications
Should have posted back in October. Splitting the cases on the Honda GHX50 was easy and the performance cam from AGK Affordable Go Karts (the black one) fit perfectly. Big performance boost. Cut and removed the governor shaft plugging the case hole with a glued in bolt. Also removed the weights from the governor flywheel to avoid any potential problems - it’s not needed. Be sure to keep the gear though, it’s part of the lubrication system in the engine.
